Was there a contract?
Did your contract say you would have air bags?
And no its not illegal if you knew it was salvaged.
You could try to return the car for other reasons ex mechanical malfunctions or simillar stuff.

If he sells a car that came equipped with airbags, AND he KNEW that there were none in it, then that is a material defect, which he was required, by law, to diclose.

If he KNEW that the airbags were diabled, the frame was bent, the motor was blown etc, then he must disclose that at the time of sale. That goes beyond the AS IS sale. You would have to prove that he knew that it had no airbags to win.

You would be entitled to your money back and you return the car.

no it is not illegal to sell a car without airbags this is a clear case of you got what you paid for if you were to buy a 1992 car they were not equipped with airbags so when you purchased the car and it was not in writing it will be hard to prove in small claims court because it will be your word against theirs.
