if you are going to take the title to the DMV then the seller wants to cover his liability part of the sale by having your ID and thus the seller is relieved of the responsibility  of your driving the car ... it is only good business  ... AND   besides buying a salvage titled car to me is not a wise decision BUT I think that it is good for you if you can take the car to your mechanic before you pay one dime and get it checked out ... ))  Princess Diana was killed in a Mercedes the was three ... 3 ...  cars that had been welded  together to make one auto -- and that is why that M-Benz  blew apart ))))  and so let the guy have your ID and say no more if you have problems then you may have some recourse and you can prove that he sold you the ride  ----- recourse hinges on the State rules of your residence ...</description>
